Fitting tips from our workshop
Clean the mounting surface with an alcohol wipe before pressing the tape home: the 3M VHB backing bonds permanently to clean, dry aluminium and uPVC but hates dust and silicone residue. The IP65 coating also shrugs off the condensation-prone corners of an awning in spring and autumn, which is exactly where cheaper unsealed tape fails first. CCT tape carries three cores rather than two, so leave a little extra slack at the connection end before trimming. The tape cuts every 13mm at the marked points only, so measure twice. Route the 2m power lead away from moving arms, add an inline fuse at the battery, and mount the dimmer controller somewhere dry.
