Thule 3200 Awning Roof Rack Installation

Installation varies from vehicle to vehicle. However, if you vehicle has a roof rack installation is easily achieved.

Required Tools

Method

  1. Firstly, un pack your Thule Awning and place on a set of trestles.
  2. Now un pack your adapters and identify whether you require wrap around adapters for square bars.
  3. Secondly, make sure that your roof bars are as wide apart as possible.
  4. Please refer to your vehicles handbook to ensure correct positioning.
  5. Thirdly, position your brackets on your roof bars so that they are sitting in line with each other.
  6. Lastly, fit your awning on to the brackets and secure using supplied bolts.
  7. Thule adapter set comes supplied with a lockable cover to prevent theft.

I cannot deploy my awning legs, what am I doing wrong?

When using your awning for the first time, the legs can be quite stiff. The leg flipper known as an adjusting balancer can feel like it’s going to break. Use the palm of your hand and make sure you are pushing the flipper upwards. This locks roughly 25 degrees from the top of the awning leg.

What makes the Thule 3200 so compact?

This awning does not use traditional spring arms. Instead, the 3200 uses telescopic support arms which drastically reduce the size of the main cassette. This does not compromise the overall strength due to the way the legs and arms interlock.

What brackets do I require to fit this awning?

With the exception of the roof rack adapters, brackets are vehicle specific. If you cannot find your vehicle listed, get in touch with our team to find a solution.

What wind speed will this awning stand up to?

Leaving your awning out unattended is a big no from us. Whilst a slight breeze is ok when using the correct Side Strap Kit, it is recommended to retract your awning in strong wind.

Can side panels be used on this awning?

Yes, Thule makes specific Rain Blocker Sides & Fronts for the Thule 3200. 3rd party solutions are not recommended on this awning due to its unique design.

Thule 3200 Operation

  1. Thule 3200 Awning is a manually operated awning, no handle required!
  2. Firstly, press the button on each side of the cassette. The pelmet will spring open and reveal the operating arms and fabric.
  3. Secondly, swing each operating arm towards you. They will now be hanging away from the van.
  4. Thirdly, un roll your awning until all of the fabric has come off the roller.
  5. Lastly, drop one awning leg to the floor and extend to chest height and lock the lever. Now extend your arm rafter so that it locks in to the front rail of the awning. Repeat on the opposite side.
  6. You can further tension the awning by operating the ratchet on each arm until desired tension is reached.
  7. Always peg the awning to the ground using supplied pegs.
  8. Thule Side Strap Kit is recommended for extra security.
